Engaging the Next Generation of Engineers through STEM Programs
Staying at the forefront of technological advancements is a priority for TTM, and we know that means engaging with tomorrow’s innovators, today! Over the last five years, we have been doing just that through our relationship with First® Long Island. Our affiliation allows us to cultivate relationships with the next generation of engineers, scientists, and computer science specialists. We continue to foster these relationships through sponsorships of Lego League Challenges, Tech Challenges, and Robotics Competitions. Our Long Island facility also offers an annual summer internship for high school students interested in pursuing STEM-related majors in college.
As the industry pivots to unmanned platforms containing smaller systems with increased capabilities, we are working with programs like First® to educate our future innovators early and introduce them to STEM career possibilities in the Aerospace & Defense industry. Rich Hines, our Vice President of Engineering of the Aerospace & Defense Sector, and other members of our community, serve as board members, mentors and judges for First® Long Island and work with our onsite interns.
Our Farmingdale facility will once again host a class of high school students for a paid, two-week internship this summer. The internship will introduce the students to industry-related STEM careers. It includes working in a team environment, alongside TTM engineers, on a mini robotics challenge, while also being exposed to other team-building skills and product demonstrations.
