Innovative Solutions for Advanced PCB Manufacturing in Cooling Systems
The demand for advanced electronic components is rapidly increasing across various sectors, including cooling systems for air conditioning and data centers. TTM Technologies (“TTM”) is at the forefront of this evolution by supporting the volume production of “PCB Stators” designed for the Aircore EC motor system. These systems play a crucial role in optimizing energy efficiency for applications such as air conditioning and mobility motors, including propulsion and auxiliary motors. Recently, we made a significant impact by helping a customer navigate challenges in their PCB design process. By leveraging our engineering expertise and fostering collaboration, we effectively addressed their needs.
Challenges
Our customer faced several critical issues. They relied on a complex multiple lamination process that complicated production and increased costs, as the PCB represented the highest expense on their bill of materials. Key challenges included managing thickness consistency, tackling etching issues, and preventing voids in the copper layers. These issues could lead to inefficiencies or failures in the final product. Achieving their price targets while ensuring reliability and performance was vital for their project’s success.
TTM Advantages
TTM field application engineers (“FAE”) and the engineering team at our Guangzhou facility worked closely together with the customer during the early design stages to support their aggressive growth plans. We recognized the need for a large, scalable, and technically advanced PCB manufacturer and guided them through a strategic transition from a multiple-lamination process to a more efficient single-lamination approach. This change was key to helping them meet their price targets while maintaining quality.
Our ongoing commitment to cost reductions, achieved through improved design and research into alternate materials, showcases how TTM's innovative solutions can lead to successful outcomes that align with the customer’s goals in a competitive market.
